MORGANTOWN, WV — For the second consecutive season, a first-year head coach is leading WVU women's basketball to the NCAA Tournament.
This time, the Mountaineers will play in Iowa City, Iowa, home of some of college hoops' brightest stars, but tickets are extremely difficult to come by.
Head coach Mark Kellogg's team is the No. 8 seed and will play No. 9 seed Princeton in the first round. The winner of this game will likely have a shot at the No. 1 Iowa Hawkeyes and Caitlin Clark, the most prolific scorer in Division I basketball history.
In Episode No. 90 of The Gold and Blue Nation Podcast, presented by Elite Roofing and Construction, hosts Ryan Decker and Kevin Redfern preview the Mountaineers' first-round matchup and discuss the team's seeding. Reacting to the lower-than-expected numbers, he explains the reason for canceling the show. You should enjoy the opportunity to compete in the same quadrant as the current national finalists.
WVU is led by star guard JJ Cunally, who recently received honorable mention All-America honors from the Associated Press.
The first-round game between West Virginia University and Princeton University will be played Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Click here for more information on the game and tournament.
