It's all about what the Seattle Seahawks have done so far in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Seattle's next selection was a long wait, as they took Texas defensive tackle Byron Murphy II at No. 16. The Seahawks didn't have a second-round pick, so they sat out the first half of the second day and made no trade, staying at No. 81 and selecting college guard Christian Hannes. Typically, when we think about UW guards, we focus on the dominant men's and women's basketball teams. This is the second time the Seahawks have drafted a player from UW, who coincidentally was a guard (1989 ninth rounder, David Franks).
Haynes became an All-American under former Seahawks head coach Jim Mora. Although the Connecticut teams he played for never finished the season above .500, he still dominated opponents. He only played right guard in college, so it's natural to think he'll compete with Anthony Bradford for the starting spot. “We can play whatever they ask us to play,” Haynes said. I can't wait to see what he has to offer as an additional free safety.
No QBs were selected in the entire NFL due to the rush of QBs in the first round. Spencer Rattler, Jordan Travis, Michael Pratt and Joe Milton are all still available. On the defensive end, linebackers Junior Colson, Peyton Wilson and Edgerrin Cooper were left out, and top safeties Tyler Nubin, Cole Bishop, Javon Bullard and Cam Kinchens were also drafted. Depth at linebacker and safety is still a need for the Seahawks.
The draft ends Saturday and coverage begins at noon ET/9 a.m. PT.
