Stephen Jones spoke to Cowboys fans who are feeling pessimistic about their team at the Senior Bowl.
The Dallas Cowboys suffered humiliation in the playoffs. In the two weeks and countless hours since the Green Bay Packers humiliated Dallas beyond measure, we've all been searching for answers, and in the end we end up back in the same place. . That means everyone will get angry unless they get angry.
To be clear, Dallas didn't just lose to its longtime rival; how It happened. The Cowboys were never competitive and were completely destroyed in every aspect. As a result, it has officially been more than 28 years since they won a Super Bowl or appeared in the NFC Championship Game.
Needless to say, optimism has been lost, but it doesn't seem like anything is lost for team vice president Stephen Jones. At Tuesday's Senior Bowl, Jones was asked about fan pessimism and said no one will believe in them until they do it (like the Cowboys did).
“We've had a good three years going 12-5, but we had a big disappointment in the postseason. So until we do something about it, let's have another great year.” and If we have success in the playoffs, that will be the case. There's no way they'll trust you unequivocally until you go through with it. If Tom Brady and the Patriots are going to pull it off, will anyone trust them? I agree. why? Because they used to do it every year. Does anyone believe Mahomes and Kansas City can do it? why? That's why we've been to the championship game six years in a row. Until he competes at that level and gets the job done, there will be doubts. And of course it is. ”
It's hard to say anything other than that he was completely and utterly right, which is probably not a word many fans have ever said. No one will believe they will do it until the Cowboys do it. Sometimes it's really simple.
As you may have heard or read about what Stephen has to say about Tom Brady and Patrick when discussing the level of trust in the New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs, You may have found it interesting that I specifically mentioned Mahomes (aka quarterback). That last one had an odd sense of meaning, given the situation surrounding Dak Prescott and the pressing question of whether the Cowboys would rebuild, extend or find a replacement for him.
Jones was asked about that near the end of the video and defended Prescott, but if you really want to dig into it, he didn't use the word trust.
“We love our quarterbacks. Our thoughts on quarterbacks are well documented.”
It's going to be a very long offseason for the Cowboys, but it's only just beginning. It's hard to think of what they can do to regain the trust of their fans and everyone who believed in them.
