Richardson has given preliminary approval to a major new transit-oriented development.
The Points at Waterview project will be built on DART's new Silver Line, which runs to DFW International Airport. The 36-acre development site is located north of UT Dallas' campus.
Dallas developers Wolverine Interests and UT Dallas have approved a mixed-use project with up to 4,000 residential units, up to 500,000 square feet of office space, 40,000 square feet of retail space and two hotels. I'm asking Son. Each has 300 rooms.
Wolverine owns a 15-acre site that includes a five-story office building. UT Dallas has properties adjacent to the district.
According to the city, “The proposed development plan accommodates a transit-oriented development that would be located at a DART light rail station and a future Silver Line station located along the southern boundary of the subject property. ”.
Richardson's Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved the proposed zoning change.
Wolverine CEO Jim Leslie said he expects the City Council to consider the project in September.
Preliminary designs show seven building sites on the property with large open spaces facing the new DART station.
Points at Waterview is one of several large transit-focused developments under construction along a new 46-mile commuter rail line connecting DFW Airport to Plano. This rail line he plans to open at the University of Texas at Dallas in 2026.
The station north of UT Dallas is expected to be one of the busiest on the new rail route.

Wolverine Interests is an investor and developer of a range of real estate properties in North Texas. The company acquired a four-building office campus in Las Colinas last year.
