(DALLAS) — Business and community leaders in Grand Prairie are committed to strengthening their relationship with the University of Dallas and providing residents with a pipeline of educational and workforce opportunities.
Later this week, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Grand Prairie (HCCGP) will appoint longtime University of Dallas executive Elizabeth Guerra to its board of directors. Ms. Guerra is the senior director of human resources at the University of Dallas. David Barrientos, senior director of Career Connected Learning, said her appointment strengthens the relationship between business leaders and the university.
With about 3,000 students, Grand Prairie ranks No. 5 in total enrollment at the University of Dallas by zip code and city, he said.
“Fostering strong connections and collaboration is essential to supporting this vibrant and vital part of our community. By joining forces, the University and Chamber of Commerce will help the Hispanic community grow, succeed, and grow.” It can play a vital role in promoting economic empowerment.
“This partnership between the university and the Chamber is important because the City of Grand Prairie provides a student pipeline to the University of Dallas, despite not having a center or campus location within city limits,” Barrientos said. said.
Additionally, the University of Dallas and the Chamber of Commerce will continue to engage with the Hispanic community, celebrate its heritage and foster networking opportunities.
Mr. Guerra said he is honored by this appointment and will work to increase the profile of UT in Grand Prairie and promote educational pathways that benefit learners of all ages.

Guerra has more than 25 years of experience working in community colleges. She is an administrator with extensive knowledge of workforce education programs, university registration, admissions policies and procedures, and course curriculum and development.
During her full and fulfilling career at the University of Dallas, she has worked at both the El Centro and Eastfield campuses.
Mr. Guerra will be sworn in on Wednesday, June 28 at 5:30 p.m. at the Chamber's Small Development Center, 2100 Virginia Drive, Suite B, Grand Prairie.
