“This is a centimeter game,” Prescott said after the 28-23 loss. “That's why you have to love this game. It's tough to win. We fought hard. It's a great NFC East matchup, and they won tonight. One of those few plays was a 1. If we win two inches, we're going to be.'' “We're talking about a different outcome. They got this. It sucks. We're going to accept it and move on and take advantage of the fight.'' We had a lot of success. Despite the loss, a lot of good things came out of this.”
“…It sucks right now, but there are a lot of benefits that can come from this going forward.”
There are countless things to add to this list of bad breaks. For example, the forced fumble by the Eagles on a night when the Cowboys were just six yards away from a disastrous comeback at Lincoln Financial Field.
It was a day where Prescott, Lamb, and the entire offense were surgical against one of the league's best defenses – the tandem finished with 191 yards receiving (for Lamb, he had already recorded 1). Prescott threw for 374 passing yards (92 percent of his total offense), three touchdowns, and no interceptions.
A week after the Rams dismantling, the offensive line is clearly back on track.
However, with the game on the line and standing at the 6-yard line with 4th down left to punch in, they were flagged for a false start, which set off a chain of events that ended in a loss. Ta.
“oh dear, [I was thinking] “We're going to win,” Prescott said of his mindset as he scored first-and-goal from the 6-yard line with seconds left in the game. “During that game, I didn't think about anything out of the ordinary. Not converting on fourth down on the penultimate possession was obviously the worst. We trusted our defense, and we trusted our defense. They come out with less than a minute left and get the ball back. I still have faith in the team and I believe that given the work we've put in, we're going to get it done. Ta.
“We're close. We just have to go an inch here, an inch there, and we'll find a way to get there.” [those]. ”
Prescott understands how close the Cowboys were to tying the Eagles for first place in the NFC East this week.
“You have to get better in situations like this to get down there and stall,” he said. “Obviously, we don't practice going back when we're in a situation like that, but we still had a chance and we felt good about it. Going back five yards obviously didn't help that play. … It makes that play a little harder. It was a great game on both sides and it was tough to be on the losing side – especially when you've been through so much. [offensive] I'm successful and I'm in the red zone. ”
The Cowboys are now 5-3 on the season, trailing the Eagles by 2.5 points, and will need to reload in Week 10 against the visiting New York Giants. This is their second major test of the season, and while the team still has nothing left, there were almost as many questions as there were in Week 5's blowout loss to the San Francisco 49ers. There are still questions that will remain until further notice.
Most of them are classified as self-inflicted.
“We didn't pass [the test]”That sucks,” the two-time Pro Bowler said. “We went into this game believing, and we still believe, everybody believed.'' We were inches away on three different plays, but this is a different game, a different result. right. But we are getting better, I promise, and we will continue to get even better.
“…there is [are] There are no moral victories in this league. No matter what you do, you can't win by a few centimeters. We know we are doing the right thing. …We’ll keep working, okay? ”
