saturday night live Host Ayo Edebiri probably wished he would take back the mean comments he made during the podcast about this week's musical guest, Jennifer Lopez.
Fortunately (and perhaps unfortunately) for her, SNL A parody game show gave her a chance at redemption. Why did you say that?
It all started when a clip resurfaced from a 2020 episode of the podcast goddess of deceptionIn it, Edebiri called Lopez a “fraud.”
“Her whole career has been one long fraud,” Edebiri said in the video. She said, “Even though she doesn't sing on most of the songs, she still thinks she's fine.''
Enter SNL game show sketch host Kenan Thompson. Why did you say that? Contestants were asked to explain comments on social media.
Edebiri's character was asked why he wrote “die” on an Instagram video of sweet Drew Barrymore celebrating in the rain. Another contestant had to explain a comment that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez left on Instagram: “Aspiring to Congress.”
Frustrated and nervous, Edebiri finally blurted out why her character posted her actions, a sequence that also served as an explanation for her past J-lo comments.
“Okay, okay,” she said. “It's wrong to leave mean comments, to post comments just for influence, to say bad things on your podcast, but you're 24 years old and stupid not to consider the repercussions.”
There is no word that anything similar was said privately this week, and Edebiri and Lopez did not share any sketches, although they appeared together on SNL to promote the show.
