BALTIMORE – It's been six months since Rachel Morin was found murdered on the popular Ma and Pa Trail in Harford County.
A true crime podcast host is bringing attention to the case and increasing his pay.
Mile Higher podcast host added another $5,000 For the reward that led to the arrest of Maureen's killer. The current compensation is $35,000.
Maureen's murder was featured on the show's Jan. 25 episode.
Mother of five children found murdered Aug. 6 along the Ma and Pa Trail in Bel Air.
“I think that's why a lot of people stopped going to Bel Air,” said Molly Moxley, a Bel Air resident.
Community members told WJZ they are concerned that no arrests were made despite major breakdowns early in the case — Surveillance footage of suspect.
It shows footage of the man detectives believe to be Maureen's killer, taken at the scene of a home invasion and assault across the country in Los Angeles last March.
Detectives said DNA left at the scene matched DNA left at Morin's home.
“I feel like I've been in a bit of a cold spell for a long time,” Moxley said.
Few new details about the murder have been released recently, but the Harford County Sheriff's Office says the case is by no means solved.
He told WJZ that detectives are following up on every lead but are running low on leads now.
“Certainly we're not getting as much information as we did in the first few weeks after the murder, but it's still coming in,” Harford County Sheriff Jeff Galer said.
Investigators followed leads in Los Angeles, Chicago, and Washington, D.C. Morin's family has also tried to keep her name private, but so far no arrests have been made.
The sheriff says they really need the public's help to catch this killer.
“We don't know where he is,” Sheriff Gahler said. “He is a threat to every community around the world.”
