Dallas' hotel construction boom shows no signs of slowing down.
The Dallas area has led the nation in new hotel additions for more than a year.
North Texas hotel projects hit a new high of 189 in the third quarter, according to a quarterly report from research firm Lodging Econometrics. This is an increase from the 176 projects in the development pipeline at the end of 2022.
There are an estimated 21,840 new hotel rooms under construction in the Dallas area, according to construction analysts.
“Dallas also led the top five markets with the most projects in early planning at the end of the third quarter,” Lodging Econometrics said in a just-released report.
After the Dallas area, the newest hotels slated for construction are Atlanta with 140 projects and Nashville with 122 projects.
Approximately 80 hotels (9,021 rooms) are scheduled to open in the Dallas area within the next 12 months.
By the end of September, 345 hotels with 41,115 rooms had opened nationwide. New York and Atlanta have the highest number of new rooms so far in 2023.
Lodging Econometrics also tracks the renovations or renovations of 1,912 hotels in the United States.
The Ritz-Carlton in Uptown Dallas just completed a more than $20 million renovation.
According to the Hotel Construction Tracking Report, 527 new hotels with 65,905 rooms are expected to open in the U.S. this year. New hotel openings are expected to increase in 2024 and 2025.
Dallas-Fort Worth already has several new hotels opening in 2023, including the JW Marriott in Downtown Dallas and the Omni PGA Frisco Resort.
Two more luxury hotels are expected to open in Fort Worth by the end of the year. the 106-room Bowie House and his 200-room hotel in his $250 million Crescent Fort Worth development.
An 888-room Loews hotel and conference center will open in Arlington next year.
