Joe Rogan's popular podcast is back on Apple Podcasts after a hiatus of more than three years.
Last Friday, Spotify announced a multi-year contract renewal with Logan worth $250 million. Under the new agreement, “The Joe Rogan Experience” will be widely distributed on third-party platforms including Apple Podcasts, YouTube and Amazon Music. Additionally, Spotify sells ads for Rogan's show, which consistently ranks as the #1 most listened to podcast on the platform.
“JRE” left Apple Podcasts in September 2020 due to Spotify's previous exclusive deal with the comedian and podcaster.
Thursday, Logan post X (formerly Twitter) wrote that “The Joe Rogan Experience” is “officially back on @apple. Should be back on @youtube with full episodes in the coming weeks.”
Rogan also wrote, “Thank you @spotify for being by far the coolest and smartest people I've ever had the pleasure of partnering with. I hope the podcast will be distributed more widely. I’m really looking forward to it.”
“The Joe Rogan Experience” originally launched on December 24, 2009 and has produced more than 2,200 episodes, each averaging two to three hours in length.
The show caused some headaches for Spotify: In early 2022, Neil Young was among the few artists to have their music removed from the audio platform in protest of Rogan's comments about coronavirus vaccines on his podcast. I was alone.
In announcing the renewal on February 2nd, Spotify said it would work closely with Rogan and his team to “continue to maximize viewership for our shows across our platforms.” Logan will receive a guaranteed minimum fee and a portion of advertising revenue from Spotify.
