WASHINGTON (January 8, 2024) – NAR Chairman Tracy Kasper informs NAR’s leadership team that she has received threats to disclose past personal non-financial matters unless it jeopardizes her position at NAR. I did. She refused to do so and instead reported the threat to law enforcement. Ms. Kasper said that under these circumstances, she felt it was in the best interest of the organization for her to resign. The leadership team is deeply concerned about attempts to undermine its governance and, as a result, has taken steps to protect the integrity of the organization.
Ms. Kasper said, “As president and as a long-time member of NAR, I have always put NAR's interests first. Given the importance of this, the time has once again come to put NAR's interests first.Therefore, it is with a mixture of gratitude and heavy hearts that I tender my resignation from the position of Chairman of your company, effective immediately. This gives our leadership team the ability to: “Take the reins and move forward to deliver the changes we have all worked so hard to make over the past few months. I know I will leave our members, staff and association in good hands.”
NAR would like to thank Ms. Kasper for her years of service and dedication to the Association, especially her commitment to defending homeownership rights for all. President-elect Kevin Sears will assume her role as NAR Chairman effective immediately. NAR's efforts to strengthen its organization continue uninterrupted, and NAR remains focused on advancing the industry and ensuring a transparent and competitive marketplace for America's homebuyers and sellers.
