Frisco, Texas — The last time the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Commanders met at FedEx Field was Week 18 of the 2022 season, but for Mike McCarthy and others as they tried to build up their fitness for the playoffs. Nothing went as planned.
This was a 26-6 response to the Cowboys at the helm, and a stark reminder of what can happen in a divisional matchup, and that there's even more in store for Dallas this time around. It became something to do.
If they can defeat Washington and improve to 12-5 on the season, they will win their second NFC East title in three years. More importantly, they could get the No. 2 seed and (at least) two home games. In a tournament.
- date: Sunday, January 7th
- time: 4:25 PM ET
- position: FedEx Field (Landover, Maryland)
On the other hand, if the coaches lose this contest, they can get the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, but the players don't care about that. They're trying to make Dallas' path back to the Super Bowl more difficult, even if it means potentially helping the Philadelphia Eagles in the process. Like, they're going to play against the Cowboys.
This is NFC East drama at its finest, and nothing is promised to the Cowboys other than a battle of the Commanders. That makes it all the more important for Dallas to get off to a good start and force Washington to abandon the plan early.
But will it really happen? Or will the Commander send a shockwave across the NFC this weekend??
It's finally time to find out.
