Sources told WFAA that one suspect was also shot and killed during the incident and another suspect was arrested.
DALLAS — A Dallas police officer was shot in the leg Thursday morning while helping execute a death warrant in northeast Dallas, police officials said.
The officer was taken to the hospital but released by Friday morning, police said. Officials said one suspect was also shot during the incident and is in critical condition.
The incident happened around 6 a.m. in the 9900 block of Adreta Boulevard, just northeast of Interstate 635 and Skillman Street.
Officers from the U.S. Marshals Task Force, including Dallas police officers, were at the scene executing a capital murder warrant. Officials said the warrant is in connection with an Oct. 16 homicide in the 9700 block of Forest Lane.
Officials told WFAA that officers were entering the residence to execute a warrant when the suspect fired shots at officers. Officials said officers returned fire and shot and killed one suspect.
Officials said one officer was shot in the leg and taken to Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas.
Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia said, “He was just released from the hospital a while ago, but the officer is in good spirits and will recover.”
Officials told WFAA that another suspect at the scene was taken into custody, but authorities have not yet provided any information on that.
The names of the suspect and police officer have not been released.
