Chick-fil-A has come to south Dallas to open its 3,000th restaurant. To celebrate, the chain plans to do a few things to help the community.
The restaurant's new location will open on November 9, 2023 at 3502 W. Camp Wisdom Road in The Shops at Redbird Shopping Center. Open for dine-in, self-service, and takeout Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The Red Bird area is one of the most underserved areas in Washington, Florida, with a majority black and Hispanic population. According to the USDA, this area is considered a low food access area.
Developers are working to revitalize the Redbird complex, with UT Southwestern expected to open a new facility in 2022 and a Tom Thumb store.
“We couldn't think of a better location for our groundbreaking opening,” said Kyna Bascom, Chick-fil-A's senior real estate manager for the Southwest region, in a press release. “Chick-fil-A is honored to play a small role in the exciting revitalization of the Redbird District. We look forward to serving our guests as this community continues to grow and thrive. To celebrate the opening of our 3,000th restaurant, Chick-fil-A will be doing a few things.
- Chick-fil-A will donate $300,000 to fight food insecurity and support community education. Feeding America and Junior Achievement will each receive a $150,000 donation.
- On November 3, staff members, along with RedBird Chick-fil-A owner-operator Consuela Jacobs, will fill 3,000 backpacks with supplies and food for students in need in the Oak Cliff community. The backpacks will be donated to the Harmony CDC Food Pantry and the Boys & Girls Club of Oak Cliff.
- Chick-fil-A RedBird participates in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table program, an initiative that transfers surplus food from Chick-fil-A restaurants to local soup kitchens, shelters, food banks, and nonprofit organizations .
- Chick-fil-A RedBird will also recognize 100 local heroes making an impact in the RedBird region by giving them free Chick-fil-A tickets for a year.
