“El Conde” had its world premiere at the 2023 Venice International Film Festival (winning the Golden Osella Screenplay Award) and was well-received as a satire of Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet as a 250-year-old vampire seeking death. Three-time Academy Award-nominated cinematographer Edward Lachman was tasked with bringing Pablo Larrain's unique vision to the screen in stunningly gorgeous black and white. Lachman was kind enough to take some time with us after his latest Oscar nomination to talk about his experience working on technology for the film, his first shoot with Larrain, his thoughts on recognizing the award, and more. . Be sure to check out this year's Academy Award nominee for Best Cinematography, which is also available to stream on Netflix. Thank you and enjoy!
