Construction work on a five-story mixed-use building on Texas Instruments' headquarters campus in Dallas could begin in July.
The semiconductor giant said no decisions have been made about the Kilby West building near the intersection of U.S. 75 and I-635, but a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation shows renovations to the 505,000-square-foot building. It has been shown that this may occur. I'm working on it. The interior updates could cost $119 million to build, with a completion date set for 2027, according to filings.
In response to questions, a TI spokesperson said the company regularly evaluates opportunities to modernize and improve its facilities. It said no decisions have been made regarding this particular facility at this time and the application was made by a third party.
In the past few years, TI has renovated the Kilby East building, updated the office space and performed work on the existing high-voltage lab, according to state filings.
The Kilby building is named for Jack Kilby, a former TI engineer who discovered the integrated circuit, the basis for many of the technologies that TI developed over the years.
In North Texas, the company is ramping up production at its 300mm manufacturing facility in Richardson, which specializes in analog and embedded processing chips, as well as building four 300mm wafer fabrication facilities in Sherman.
