Welcome to the weekly podcast with longtime Anchorage Daily News horticulture writer Jeff Lowenfels and co-host Jonathan White. Consider this a supplement to Jeff's weekly ADN Gardening column and his popular series of books.
This week, Jeff and Jonathan explore the relationship between sound and plants. Did you know that plants grow toward the sound of water?
Next, Jeff disagrees with an article he recently read where scientists are studying rhizobia, which form nitrogen-fixing nodules to promote fertilization of plants. But Jeff believes the focus should be on nodule phagocytosis, which provides nitrogen to plants without the need for root nodules.
The duo then answers some interesting listener questions in detail.
