The Sixer Sense Podcast is back after a short hiatus and ready to talk about the Sixers heading into the second half of the NBA season. The Sixers went 2-2 in their final four games heading into the All-Star break, but the All-Star break couldn't come soon enough for this struggling roster.
Philadelphia suffered tough losses to the Atlanta Hawks, who were without Dejounte Murray, and the Miami Heat, who were without Jimmy Butler. The team was able to defeat the Wizards, the worst team in the NBA, followed by a very impressive win against the Cleveland Cavaliers, who entered that game on a nine-game winning streak. Kelly Oubre Jr. and Buddy Hield anchored the offense in Joel Embiid's absence, and I hope that continues when he returns.
Jonathan Geib and Lucas Johnson take a deeper dive into the Buddy Hield acquisition nearing the trade deadline. In four games since joining the Sixers, Hield is averaging 22 points, 7.5 assists and shooting 45 percent from 3-point range. Hield is best known as a deadly shooter, but his playmaking during his short tenure with the Sixers was most impressive. When the Sixers' roster is fully healthy, will Hield be a starter or a reserve? How can Nick Nurse handle this decision?
The podcast ends with a discussion about All-Star Weekend. Tyrese Maxey is the only current member of the Sixers, and he played in his first All-Star Game as well as participating in the Skills Challenge. Jonathan and Lucas will be recapping the dunk contest, skill contest, and 3-point shooting contest, including Sabrina Ionescu vs. Stephen Curry. Listen to the podcast using the link below!
