The Dallas Mavericks took a big leap forward by acquiring Daniel Gafford and PJ Washington. The team improved inside as well, improving rebounding and defense.
Dallas also saw its winning percentage increase as players like Kyrie Irving and Derek Lively II returned from injuries. The team has won seven straight games since Irving returned in February. Irving has knocked down 58 percent of his shots this month, so his shooting is the difference.
However, despite the return of players and the acquisition of new players, the team is still not at full strength. Rookie Dante Exum has yet to return from injury. Before his injury, the Mavs guard was averaging 9.2 points per game and 47.7 shots from the 3-point line. His return could make the team even better as he will be an important part of the second unit.
Needless to say, the Mavs still have one roster spot left. The team approached Spencer Dinwiddie earlier this month, but the deal was declined after he signed with the Los Angeles Lakers.
So what are the chances of Dallas using that spot to target a player like Danuel House or Alexei Pokusevski?
In any case, there are many other possibilities for improving the room. This is scary for a team that is on a seven-game winning streak, as they are not at their best.
