The Sixer Sense Podcast will return after the team's first few games after All-Star weekend. Homegrown guard Kyle Lowry also made his debut with the Sixers this week. What can we expect from his role on this team going forward? And are there better frontcourt options the Sixers could pursue in Joel Embiid's absence?
Philadelphia is 1-2 this week with losses to the New York Knicks and Milwaukee Bucks. The Knicks have former Villanova Wildcats Jalen Brunson, Donte DiVincenzo and Josh Hart, who looked right at home on the Wells Fargo floor in a 110-96 win over the Sixers. I showed you. The Sixers' offense has been stagnant in recent games, with Embiid's production noticeably lacking.
Against the Bucks, the Sixers showed no interest on the floor. Milwaukee was coming off a tough road win over the Western Conference-leading Minnesota Timberwolves on the road in South Philadelphia, but they looked like the more energetic team. To be honest, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard both had triple-doubles, and the Sixers were eliminated from the game after the first quarter.
The Sixers' only win this week came in a classic battle against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavs have been heating up lately, but they were without superstar Donovan Mitchell in Philadelphia. This is still a good team win for the Sixers, who had five players score in double figures. All three teams are above the Sixers in the Eastern Conference standings and needed to do better. After Sunday's loss to the Bucks, the Sixers are one game away from falling into the play-in spot for the NBA playoffs.
One of the biggest reasons the Sixers have struggled lately is the lack of a capable backup at the center position. Are there any free agents still available who can help this roster to fill time until Embiid returns? Jonathan and Lucas have some interesting names as potential signings. what are your thoughts?
