Spring Ball is approaching and it's time to start preparing for the annual OSU Spring Game. This is a great tradition and gives us one last chance to talk before the long hiatus leading up to preseason camp. It always seems like it's a long way off, but in reality it never is.
Ryan Day has finally decided on his 2024 coaching staff at Ohio State. Last month's top news was Bill O'Brien's departure before he could officially take over. Chip Kelly was hired to lead the offense under Ryan Day, and we think about it.
We also discussed the arrival of a new assistant coach in Brandon Jordan and how he can reinvigorate OSU's pass rush. And some earned new contracts, new titles, or both. Discuss the current status of your staff.
The College Football Playoff is scheduled to expand to 12 teams in 2024, but before we know what that will look like, there's already talk of expanding the field to 14 or 16 teams. Why are you in such a hurry? Well, money is usually involved, so I guess it's a gold rush. In any case, perhaps the powers that be could at least consider the pros and cons of expanding to 12 before jumping into further expansions.
Finally, the Buckeyes and Northwestern Wildcats seem destined to play at Wrigley Field this fall. It's a fun novelty and may be enough to knock a visit to Wrigley off the sports bucket list for some fans, but is it a good place for a football game? Given the less-than-optimal visibility for soccer, both teams clashing on the same sideline, and the eerie brick wall surrounding the field, this wouldn't be our first choice.
We will continue to contact you monthly during the college football offseason, but we plan to return to a weekly schedule in August 2024. We want to hear from you, so please share your thoughts and questions in the comments section below. Please fill out the section or send us an email.
