The Dallas Mavericks have now lost four of their past five games, and many of their struggles have been exacerbated by a lack of consistent play.
One of Dallas' biggest problems is Tim Hardaway Jr.'s poor play, and he needs to get better for Jason Kidd to keep him in the rotation. Kidd only played 15 minutes as Hardaway Jr. on Sunday against the Philadelphia 76ers, which could be a sign that his role could be further reduced.
With Dallas set to face the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday, Mavs star Kyrie Irving reassured fans that even if they are struggling right now, things will be resolved.
“We'll be fine, and that's for everyone watching at home,” Irving said. “You have to believe that you can put in the effort it takes to get these wins. We've shown it before… there are no more excuses.”
Irving has taken full accountability here and seems confident that Dallas can turn things around. This is a team that just won seven games in a row, and if everyone buys in and brings great energy, we can get back to playing like that.
Lack of energy has been a problem in many of the Mavs' losses this season, and Luka Doncic and Irving will need to lead this team, set the tone and bring energy early in games. If the stars bring the energy, the rest of the team will follow.
It's too late this year to lose games that we should have won, and we have to do everything we can to avoid missing out on the playoffs like we did last year. This roster is too good to miss the playoffs, and they need to figure out how to play together again and play with some intensity as the end of the season approaches.
