Apple introduces transcripts for Apple Podcasts
Transcripts provide full-text viewing of each episode, making podcasts more accessible and immersive than ever before.
Today, Apple introduced Transcripts for Apple Podcasts. This is an innovative new feature that makes podcasts more accessible and easier to navigate.
Transcripts allow users to read the entire episode, search for specific words or phrases in the episode, and tap the text to play the podcast from that point in the episode. As the episode plays, each word is highlighted, making it easier to understand.
“Introducing transcripts in Apple Podcasts builds on Apple's commitment to creating products and services for everyone,” said Sarah Hellinger, Apple's senior director of global accessibility policy and initiatives. . “We’re excited to make transcripts widely available to everyone, adding another layer of accessibility to the podcast experience.”
Transcripts can improve your podcast experience in a variety of ways, allowing you to hear every word from your favorite host, learn a new language, and more easily find the facts you heard in an episode. Helpful. Users can access episode transcripts from the bottom left corner of the Now Playing screen.
Transcript was built to enhance accessibility. Font and color contrast are designed to make long-form text easier to scan and read. Hearing-impaired users can also access the transcript without pressing the play button on the episode.
Starting today, transcripts are available for podcasts in English, French, Spanish, and German on iPhone and iPad with iOS 17.4 and iPadOS 17.4. Transcripts do not provide translation from one language to another. Transcripts of new episodes will be automatically available immediately after the episode is published. Previously released episodes will be transcribed over time.
