Mavs reunion
The Dallas Mavs have been up and down since the All-Star break, with consecutive wins and losses. The Mavs are currently eight games over .500 and are 5-5 in their last 10 games. On Saturday night, the Mavs defeated the Pistons for the second straight, 142-124, snapping a three-game losing streak. Luka Doncic led the Mavs once again. Doncic recorded 39 points, 10 assists, and 10 rebounds, becoming the first NBA player to record a 30-point triple-double in six consecutive years. Kyrie Irving added 21 points for the Mavs, but the conversation was once again about the prolific Doncic.
“This shows what level he's playing at right now,” Mavericks coach Jason Kidd said. “He knows he can score the ball, he can find his teammates and he can bounce the ball back at the end.”

Bulls aiming for playoff berth
The Chicago Bulls are two games under .500, but have endured several major injuries this season and are in ninth place in the Eastern Conference, good for a play-in spot. The Bulls are 5-5 in their last 10 games, including a 112-102 loss to the Clippers in Los Angeles on Saturday night. The Bulls held the lead for most of the game, but the Clippers outscored them 29-17 in the final quarter. The Bulls made just 5 of 18 field goals in the fourth quarter. DeMar DeRozan led the Bulls with 24 points and 10 assists, and Nikola Vucevic contributed with 22 points and 11 rebounds. With this loss, the Bulls' winning streak ended at three.
“I thought we got off to a good start in the first half. We moved the ball and made some shots. The turnovers and not taking enough shots affected us in the third quarter.” Bulls coach Billy Donovan said.
The Bulls return home with an easy win over West Coast, 3 wins and 1 loss. They are still within striking distance of the Miami Heat, Indiana Pacers, and Philadelphia 76ers who are ahead in the standings. The Bulls rank 24th in the NBA in points per game. They are 23rd in field goal percentage and 19th in 3-point field goal percentage. The Bulls are 25th in the league in 3-point field goals made per game. Defensively, the Bulls are 13th in scoring defense. They rank 11th in field goal defense and 16th in 3-point defense. The Bulls also rank 16th in total rebounds per game and second in fewest turnovers per game.

evaluation:
I tend to favor the visiting team when the home team returns from a decent-sized road trip. The Bulls had great success on the West Coast, winning three of their four games. They looked like they were running out of steam on Saturday night against Los Angeles, but they took the lead in the fourth quarter. The Mavs come into this matchup on a two-game winning streak and were able to rest some players after defeating the Pistons on Saturday night. The Bulls' backcourt will have their hands full with Doncic and Irving. Dallas also improved rebounding by bringing in P.J. Washington and Daniel Gafford and signing them at the deadline. Both can compete on the glass, especially Gafford. He gave the Mavs regular rim protectors and an active body on the glass. That's going to be the difference Monday night. Giving the Mavs an extra shot is never a good thing.
Take Dallas, for example.

evaluation:
The Mavs rank 6th in the NBA in scoring offense and will take points. However, it will be difficult for the Bulls to achieve much in their first game back after their trip to the West Coast. The Bulls are 24th in the NBA in points per game and 23rd in field goal percentage. The Bulls, who rank 29th in the NBA in pace of play and just 28th in fast break points, will look to slow down in this game as well. Note that the slightly tired Bulls struggle to get over 100 points here, and this game remains below the total.
Take the under.
