Former Dallas Cowboys running back Bo Scarborough has retired from professional football at the age of 29.
Scarborough is a big, physical runner who stands 6-foot-1 and weighs 235 pounds and was a two-time national champion at the University of Alabama. His best season there was 2016, when he ran for 812 yards, averaged 6.5 yards per carry and scored 11 touchdowns. In 2017, when he was a junior, he ran for an additional 596 yards and eight touchdowns while helping the Crimson Tide win the national championship.
Scarborough then entered the NFL Draft and was selected by the Cowboys in the seventh round, 236th overall, in 2018. He was released by the team that year and spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Seattle Seahawks.
He also played for the Detroit Lions and Las Vegas Raiders. Scarborough then moved to the USFL's Birmingham Stallions, where he helped the same team win two titles in 2022 and 2022.
He finished his NFL career with 408 rushing yards and a touchdown.
“You can love the game as much as you want.” Scarborough said this when announcing his retirement. “But at the end of the day, the game can't love you back because it's not a person. It's a ball.”
