These are important, female-centered discussions that all generations can enjoy, and Will Packer Media We couldn't be more proud to partner with Tiffany & Co. and iHeartPodcasts,” said Will Packer.
Cross spoke with ESSENCE ahead of the film's premiere and talked about how he drew inspiration from his own childhood. “Growing up with my grandmother at the kitchen table, she taught me how to chop peppers, how to chop onions, and how hard to make macaroni and cheese before it goes in the oven. But during that time, we had a lot of conversations about life, love, joy, sadness, and grief, and that really helped shape my worldview.”
“When I look at the landscape of Black women today, I personally miss having an oracle figure in my life,” Cross said. “Because I believe that Black women are oracles, and I feel lonely when I don't have someone to nourish me with, a safe space. So I wanted to create that space for myself. But we also wanted to create that space for all of us.”
“I hope people watch it with their mothers, their daughters, their sisters and have their own conversations, because those conversations are going to continue,” Cross continued. “And I want people to feel like you're here with us on the couch. This breaks down barriers and allows others to be just as vulnerable in terms of communication.” I hope you encourage us to be that person, because if we can't do that for each other, where else can we do that?”
The joy in Cross's voice was clear as she said:All these things and topics that we dig deep into. [on the podcast]. When this space is safe, we can let down our guard. ”
