Prosper police are investigating an extortion complaint filed by Dak Prescott against a Fort Worth woman who claims she was raped by the Cowboys quarterback, town officials said.
In a lawsuit filed Monday in Collin County, a woman is accused of extorting $100 million from Mr. Prescott by making false sexual assault allegations against him.
Mr. Prescott has denied the sexual assault allegations, and his attorney could not be reached for comment Wednesday.
Prosper spokesperson Todd Rice confirmed the investigation in an email to KERA.
“On Thursday, March 7, 2024, the attorney representing Mr. Lane Dakota Prescott met with the Prosper Police Department (PPD). Mr. Prescott’s attorney told PPD officers that his client was the victim of theft by force. “As such, this matter is considered to be preliminary and an active investigation, but no further details are available at this time,” Rice said in an email. I wrote it by email.
KERA News typically does not publish the names of alleged victims of sexual assault. Attorney Yoel Zehaie, who is representing the woman, told 105.3 The Fan on Tuesday that the extortion claim is a legal action.
“This is a classic example of discrediting sexual assault survivors,” Zehaie said. “We sent out a demand letter, which is very common in the legal world in civil cases. There's nothing extortion-like about it.”
Zehaie said a civil case against Prescott was “very imminent” and that his client was still considering criminal charges.
