Listen to me and John grade the contract above, discuss Calvin Ridley, and theorize about the implications of the NFL Draft.
After being acquired by the Tennessee Titans, Calvin Ridley became a free agent and left the Jaguars with a hole at wide receiver. Gabe Davis shouldn't expect to fill the Ridley role on his own, even assuming some pushback from Zay Jones. He gained 321 yards in nine games last year. Davis gained 335 yards in Weeks 5, 8 and 12, but had 411 yards in the other 14 games.
That said, neither of us think Jacksonville should select receiver No. 17 overall. If you move that pick to a package of someone like Roma Odunze, Brandon Aiyuk, or Tee Higgins, then sure. I'm talking now. But unless a top-three prospect or top-tier veteran is realistically available, John and I think the middle of the first round is a little rich for a second-tier wideout.
