Despite being very readable, there are some issues with the white savior storyline and the use of Maori characters to advance the protagonist's journey.
Plus, Sarah's obsession with her weight, Pauline the Bad Mom, a German (!) film adaptation that can't be shown, and weird 80s book covers.

When Brenna and I spoke last week; whale ridertensions arise in New Zealand writing. about Maori script that appears to have been explicitly created for white audience.
This week's book is flight of albatross, have the same challenges (probably even worse). The question is, can we say this was written in his 1989, or is this just Savage's style?
In this episode, Brenna struggled to overcome these issues. It didn't bother her one bit, just because the book was so fascinating. what can I say? I really liked Savage's prose. -JL
