Saquon Barkley sounded like a man with plans for his upcoming appearance on the New Heights podcast.
The popular show hosted by Travis and Jason Kelce will feature the former Giants running back this week, and a teaser clip for Tuesday's episode shows the former Eagles player trying to lure Jason Kelce back to the field. The situation was visible.
The caption of the clip posted on X's show account said, “Saquon appeared on the show and started recruiting.”
Kelce announced his retirement from the NFL on March 4th after a 13-year career with the Eagles.
Nevertheless, Barkley appears to be trying to get him to reconsider his decision, even if only in a tongue-in-cheek manner.
“I'm like a kid in a candy store,” Barkley begins in the clip. “I'm happy, it's a fresh start. I can't wait to see everyone and get out there and play ball.”
“It's going to be a lot of fun to watch,” Jason Kelce replies. “It’s going to be a lot of fun to be a part of and it’s going to be great.”
Then Barkley appeared, taking off his recruiting hat.
“You don't have to watch it, you know?” Barkley said before the clip ended.
Jason Kelce went through a long decision process before announcing his retirement in an emotional press conference in Philadelphia earlier this month.
Travis Kelsey also attended the announcement.
Barkley signed with the Eagles after free agency opened, ending his contract with the Giants, who drafted him in the first round in 2018.
Giants owner John Mara told reporters in Orlando during the NFL owners conference that he was “sick and tired” of losing his running back, via text message after Barkley's departure was revealed. He said they had a “very good exchange.”
