The woman who accused Dallas Cowboys star quarterback Dak Prescott of sexual assault in 2017 has filed a police report after the Dallas Cowboys star quarterback sued Dak Prescott for $100 million in extortion.
Dallas police announced Thursday that an investigation is underway after a call was received earlier this week regarding an alleged sexual assault that occurred in a strip club parking lot in early 2017.
Prescott's attorney filed the racketeering lawsuit Monday in Collin County. Mr Prescott denied the woman's claims.
According to the extortion lawsuit, the woman and her lawyer wrote a letter to Prescott stating that if Prescott paid her $100 million, the woman would not file criminal charges or make her allegations public.
An attorney representing Prescott met with police last week in Prosper, where Prescott lives, and said his client may be the victim of extortion, the Dallas Morning News reported.
Prescott is seeking $1 million in damages in his lawsuit against the woman and her attorney. Prescott's attorney, Levi McCathern, said the quarterback never had non-consensual sex with anyone.
“Sexual assault is a despicable crime and no one should ever have to endure it,” the complaint states. “Defendant's false claims in this regard undermine the courage of actual sexual assault victims around the world and the horrific trauma they have endured.”
The woman told Dallas TV station WFAA that the incident happened in the back seat of her SUV after leaving the bar where she and Prescott worked.
“To be honest, I'm a little embarrassed,” the woman said. “But I'm not asking for that. I don't want this to happen to me.”
One of the women's attorneys, Yoel Zehaie, said Prescott's extortion lawsuit was “a smokescreen to distract from the real issues that need to be discussed.” That means the rape was committed by Dak Prescott. ”
Prescott has been the Cowboys' starter in all eight seasons, taking over after Tony Romo's preseason injury. He was the 2016 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and has appeared in three Pro Bowls.
During the 2023 season, Prescott was recognized as the current NFL Man of the Year for his philanthropic efforts.
Filing a civil lawsuit
The woman who accused Dak Prescott of sexual assault filed a civil lawsuit against the Dallas Cowboys quarterback on Thursday.
The lawsuit was filed in Dallas County and seeks monetary damages.
The complaint alleges that the woman was assaulted while in a car with Prescott in February 2017.
Mr Prescott has denied the allegations.
Ms. Prescott filed a civil lawsuit on Monday, March 11, alleging that she was the victim of extortion after the woman and her attorney sent her a letter demanding $100 million.
Prescott and a Fort Worth woman have also filed criminal charges.
