“There is no place here that does not see you. You must change your life.” – Rainer Maria Rilke
World BEYOND War's technology director, Marc Elliott Stein, watched Baltimore's famous bridge collapse, investigated the engineering mistakes, and quickly identified a pattern of greed, cowardice, and conformity familiar to anti-war activists. I saw through it. “Do you think Anthony Blinken is more competent than Pete Buttigieg?”
The supercontainer ship that destroys the bridges of beautiful ports is a key element of corrupt global trade and a powerful metaphor for American power. This was the case even before the bridge collapsed on March 26, 2024, due to a Houthi attack on a US ship in the Red Sea in protest of Israeli atrocities in Gaza.
The political impact of this bridge collapse is sadly evident in the deaths of six hard-working souls who could not be reached even though there was sufficient time to save their lives.
In this week's podcast episode, we explore all of these questions in light of new and exciting ideas raised in a proposal by World BEYOND War Executive Director David Swanson. BDS the US – The world must hold the US government to the rule of law.
Following his introduction to the concept, podcast host Marc Elliott Stein collaborated on ideas such as a new BDS and other common causes that would unite activists to find an alternative to the global dominance of the US dollar. I personally appealed to them to do so. That is what the dollar and its corrupt international partners represent.
Taking a step back from the political issues and important goals of all these movements, let's take a look at the personal issues many of us encounter as we explore our ideals and choose the path of how we live. Crossroads must also be considered.
Quote from this episode:
“Are we even allowed to explore alternatives to hyperglobal capitalism? Can we imagine a world without American domination? Can we continue to pay taxes to the American world organization? Where? Should institutions be asking questions like this?”
“Moving toward the future sometimes means getting smaller, not bigger. If we're going to boycott the United States, we're going to have to be less consumerist. And we're going to have to consume less. But how can it change our lives, both emotionally and practically?”
As this episode makes clear, there are more questions than answers. I would like to hear your own responses to the various points raised by Marc Elliott Stein about his new potential for BDS and the American movement, and how this movement relates. . This will happen with other movements as well. Let us know what you think by posting a comment below.
