FRISCO, TEXAS — With the draft process wrapping up in less than four weeks until the Chicago Bears play in Detroit, the Dallas Cowboys will host 30 draft prospects this week at The Star in Frisco.
The Cowboys have drafted multiple high-end 30-game prospects in the past, including under Mike McCarthy, including Micah Parsons, Madge Smith and Sam Williams. But the Cowboys brought in players like Eric Scott Jr., Malik Davis, and Mark Keyes Bell for 30 visits under McCarthy, so the visits were limited to first- or second-day players. It is not reserved for.
Names such as Texas running back Jonathan Brooks and Kentucky linebacker Trevin Wallace have already been reported to be participating this year. As the Cowboys take the next step in their draft evaluations, here are some of the other big names who will be attending The Star meeting this week with front office, coaching staff, scouting departments and team officials.
- Taliace Fuaga, offensive tackle (Oregon State University): Huaga, who was considered the consensus top two offensive tackle in the draft, saw his stock skyrocket after a strong performance at the Senior Bowl. This feels like a scenario where if the Cowboys acquire him, he's almost guaranteed to be at least a top-15 pick.
- Trey Benson, running back (Florida State): Widely regarded as one of the top three running backs in the class, Benson heads to the NFL after gaining over 900 yards in two consecutive seasons. Although planned as a second-day selection, Benson could be an option if the Cowboys wait until the 57th pick in the second round to acquire a running back.
- Bucky Irving, running back (Oregon): Irving, another second-day option at running back, doesn't wow with his size or speed, but his ability to lower his shoulders and avoid contact could allow him to be a productive runner for the Ducks. Ta.
- Jackson Powers Johnson, center (Oregon): Powers-Johnson, another offensive line prospect whose stock rose at the Senior Bowl, is the favorite to be taken as the starting center in the first round. Powers-Johnson, who has played four of the Ducks' five offensive line positions, projects best in the midfield with his strong base and size.
- Junior Colson, linebacker (Michigan State): Considered a Day 2 projection at linebacker, he is a 6-foot-2, 238-pound second-level, well-built run stopper who combines his size with a quick burst to get stops in running lanes. can do. His coverage ability also gives him the potential to be the first linebacker taken off the board.
- Darius Robinson, defensive end (Missouri State): One of the biggest defensive ends in the draft at 6-foot-5, 285 pounds, Robinson brings an elite ability to establish an edge in the run game and target the quarterback from the right side of the line of scrimmage. Projected as a late first-round pick, this could be a trade-back scenario for the Cowboys. Or, if there is enough interest, he could become a 24-year-old pick.
- Graham Burton, interior offensive lineman (Duke): One of the more complete and versatile offensive linemen in the draft, Burton played left tackle in his final season at Duke, but teams are interested in what he brings inside. He had tape of the freshman at the center position. Projected to be a mid-to-late first-round pick, Burton is 24 years old and a legitimate option.
- Braylon Allen, running back (Wisconsin): Acquiring a big-bodied runner in the draft may be a must, but you'll be hard-pressed to find one bigger than the 6-foot-1, 235-pound Allen. Another Day 2 option is Allen, who comes in after a productive career with the Badgers.
