John Dickerson, co-host of Slate's award-winning podcast “Political Gabfest” and primetime anchor for CBS News, announces the launch of a nine-part limited series podcast, “Navel Gazing,” this week. Premieres Saturday, April 6, 2024.
Dickerson has been a journalist for more than 30 years, reporting on presidential campaigns, political scandals, and democratic developments. In Navel Gazing, Dickerson takes a journalistic approach to exploring new territory: himself. This series offers reflections on life, parenthood, death, friendship, writing, God, to-do lists, dogs, transition, and more. All of this was recorded in a notebook that Dickerson kept in his back pocket, dating back to 1993. He was a reporter for Time magazine, covering the Credit Bank and Commerce International scandals.
“Each week, we dig through the stacks of notebooks we've collected and try to organize what our lives are made up of, sometimes from a single entry,” Dickerson explains in the show's trailer.
The first episode details Living Room Manifesto, Sunday Horror, Conversational Bidding, and more. It begins with his wife Anne's declaration. She said, “Oh my god, I dropped her son off at college and his dog died.''
