NEW YORK — The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has launched a new podcast, “DEC Does What?!”
Each episode will feature conversations with DEC experts about the agency's extensive efforts to protect New Yorkers and the environment, according to a press release announcing the podcast.
The first episode of “What does DEC do?!” is being streamed on his DEC website at dec.ny.gov/podcast. All episodes will be available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, Amazon Music, and all other major podcast services in the coming weeks.
“From DEC's social media feeds and updated website to press releases and Conservationist magazine, DEC is continually finding new ways to communicate with the New Yorkers we serve.” Commissioner Basil Seggos said in a release. “DEC’s new podcast features incredible employees from the agency’s local offices and departments across the state who are dedicated to protecting natural resources and public health.
Whether DEC experts are talking about solar eclipses, climate change mitigation, cleaning up past pollution, or encouraging responsible recreation, our “The team is at the forefront of efforts to address the evolving environmental challenges facing our state,” he continued. “Would you like to learn something new in December?!”
The first episode of “What does DEC do?!” — Featuring DEC Fish and Wildlife biologists Dr. Angelena Ross and Dr. Dan Rosenblatt — Potential impacts of the April 8 solar eclipse on New York wildlife, including endangered and endangered wildlife. It focuses on ongoing efforts to protect and how different species adapt to their environments. Climate change and other factors are causing habitat changes, the release said. The biweekly podcast, hosted by Deputy Secretary Sean Mahar and Chief of Staff Erica Ringewald, also includes environmental news and updates on his recent DEC initiatives.
