You may have seen posts like this one on Thursday:
SB Nation shut down its podcast network, so anything connected to Bleeding Green Nation, Liberty Ballers, and The Good Phight ended. Broad Street Hockey and Brotherly Games have ended their partnership with SB Nation.
Locally, an incomplete list of shows that are no longer supported includes:
- BGN radio
- broad babes
- About Shane's page
- NFC East Mixtape
- stare at the enemy
- BGN Draft
- on the nest
- That's Ball Folks
There seems to be a path forward here for these shows to continue independently. Only the SB Nation network has been shut down.
Brandon Lee Gowton, who runs the Bleeding Green website and hosts BGN radio, wrote on Twitter:
A terrible, confusing and extremely frustrating day. It's a shock to lose all the talented people. @BGN_Radio Contributor… BGNR means a lot to me. Philadelphia He is the Eagles' longest-running podcast since he started in 2013 at the age of 21. I can't express how grateful I am to everyone who has listened to and interacted with the show. I really want to keep going, but it's unclear at this point what the future holds for his podcast feed. There are many unanswered questions to be answered. Decisions are being made that are beyond my control. I hope it becomes more clear. I feel really sad at the moment.
Vox Media owns SB Nation. They went through a series of layoffs last year and shut down many of their hockey and soccer sites, though some of them continued on their own without Box's support.
