DALLAS — The NBA announced Monday that the technical foul that Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic was charged with during Dallas Mavericks' 147-136 overtime win over the Houston Rockets has been rescinded.
The league office reviewed and rescinded the technical foul that was called on Doncic with 0:01 remaining in the first quarter of the game against the Rockets on April 7, 2024. Doncic had 37 points, 12 assists and nine rebounds in 45 minutes against Houston.
Players can receive an automatic one-game suspension if they accumulate up to 16 technical fouls during the regular season. For every two technical fouls he commits beyond this standard, a one-game suspension will be applied. This total will be reset in the playoffs, and technical fouls will be limited to his seven.
Doncic's total technical fouls this season have been reduced to 13, and his most recent technical foul was rescinded. Considering there are only four games left in the regular season, Doncic is very likely looking to avoid hitting the 16 technical foul limit.
Doncic has been cited for numerous technical fouls this season and in recent years, narrowly avoiding an automatic one-game suspension as a result.
This season, Doncic averaged 34.5 points, 9.7 assists and 8.9 rebounds in 53 games while shooting 49.6 percent from the field, 38.0 percent from 3-point range and 78.4 percent from the free throw line.
The Mavs have been playing at a high level, with Doncic's production contributing to that effort. He has been named Western Conference Player of the Week for two consecutive months. Since the NBA All-Star break, the team is 15-6 with him, averaging 33.1 points, 10.4 assists and 10.0 rebounds.
