ARLINGTON — For the second time in a week, the Rangers have listened to disgruntled fans and reversed course in an effort to add a twist to their in-stadium entertainment programming.
After the home win, the club will once again perform the original version of Pat Green's “I Like Texas,” a classic of the past 25 years. But the new mix, a collaboration with Dallas-based songwriter, producer and rapper Bobby Sessions, isn't going anywhere. Rangers spokesperson John Blake said this will also be used for other elements during the game. Green had approached the Rangers about using the remix in some way.

Green had approached the Rangers about using the remix in some capacity.
Many fans expressed their displeasure at the change in the song, especially on social media platforms. Fans also expressed dissatisfaction with the disappearance of “Cotton Eye Joe,” which had been played for more than 40 years, as part of the seventh-inning stretch break during the first homestand. The Rangers added the song again in the bottom of the seventh inning during their series against Houston.
“We continue to fix and work on the in-game entertainment,” Blake said. “We're trying some different things, but we recognize that it's an element of tradition for our fans.”
The Rangers are looking to take advantage of the increased attention and energy this season due to larger crowds and louder stadiums. That's what led to some attempts at change.
