It's been a busy week in Jacksonville.
Not only is the 2024 NFL Draft less than two weeks away, but the Jaguars have signed Josh Allen to a five-year contract extension, making him the highest-paid player in franchise history.
“First and foremost, I would like to thank God for blessing me with talent, blessing me with dedication and mindset, and surrounding me with people who lift me up when I feel unmotivated at work. I'm here and I'm humbled,” Allen said Wednesday after the deal was made official.
There are so many words I want to say in my head, but I can't express them well right now. Over time, you will express your true feelings. I'm so happy that I want to cry. Back in college, I remember wondering if I wanted to go back to school.I remember talking to Coach Stoops. [Kentucky Head Coach Mark Stoops] This is the first time I heard about generational wealth. I didn't know what that word meant, I didn't know its value, I had just had a son, I wanted to be with my then girlfriend, now wife, the rest of my life, but… I just found out what it really is. meaning. I bet on myself, bet on myself, and it paid off. I was drafted in the first round, seventh overall. I'm lucky to be here and see things through to the end. Now we know that this is not the first contract, but the second, and we have reached that point. I tried my best to be patient, stay humble, keep trying, and stay dedicated to my work. ”
