Walmart Health is expanding into Texas, opening 18 clinics in Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston this month and into the fall.

These clinics offer multiple medical services under one roof, including primary care, dental, behavioral health, labs, x-rays, community health, and telehealth, including same-day appointments.
The first two local clinics will open in DeSoto on April 23 and in Fort Worth on April 24. Three clinics will open in the Houston market this week.
The clinics are approximately 5,400 square feet each and are located inside Walmart Supercenters. Annual exams, teeth cleanings and chronic disease management for seniors will be provided by certified professionals, Walmart said.
Since 2019, Walmart has opened 55 clinics in Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Missouri and Texas. Last year, four small clinics offering limited primary care services opened in Garland, Royce City, Palestine and Tyler.
Retailers have reserved space for optical centers within their stores for decades. These days, pharmacies are the main source of vaccines. Costco and Sam's offer hearing aid services. Major chains are now expanding into the healthcare field. Locally, Walgreens operates his VillageMD clinic, and CVS operates under the MinuteClinics brand.
