Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Lachie Rice, who was one of the drivers involved in the start of a multi-vehicle crash in Dallas, Texas, on March 30th, is now among the two victims involved in the crash. is facing a multi-million dollar lawsuit. Rice already faces eight felonies in connection with the accident.
Rice reportedly reached speeds of 119 mph shortly before the crash, and turned himself in to police on April 11 after a warrant was issued for his arrest. Mr. Rice was released on $40,000 bail.
The lawsuit names Edvard Petrovsky and Irina Gromova as plaintiffs, and names Rice and SMU cornerback Theodore Knox as defendants. Knox was allegedly driving Rice's Corvette, which reportedly reached high speeds before the accident. Rice admitted to driving the Lamborghini involved in the incident. The second page of the lawsuit states that the plaintiffs are seeking “monetary relief in excess of $1 million,” which is preceded by the 13th page that states, “[a]As a result, Plaintiffs are suing Defendants for punitive damages in the amount of ten million dollars ($10,000,000) or more. ”
“Plaintiffs sustained severe injuries, including but not limited to brain trauma, facial lacerations requiring stitches, multiple contusions to the body, disfigurement, internal bleeding, and other internal and external injuries. Treatment will be fully disclosed only during the course of this process,” the lawsuit states.
