HEB has secured land in Celina for potential future use.
The San Antonio-based grocer acquired 21 acres of land from Suresh Manyam of Squeaky Realty Partnership located at the northeast corner of the Dallas North Tollway and Fred Smith Parkway.
The site is located within the larger Legacy Hills community planned by Centurion American Development Group, developer of Farmers Branch.
Legacy Hills is being built on 3,200 acres and will include an 18-hole golf course, more than 7,000 single-family homes, 4,100 multi-family homes, and 100 acres of commercial development.
HEB spokeswoman Mabry Jackson said HEB purchased the property in anticipation of future growth in the area and continued store expansion.
“Celina currently leads the Collin County market in new home construction and building permits, ahead of Frisco and McKinney,” said Rex Glendening of Rex Real Estate. “In real estate, we always say, ‘Retail follows the rooftop,’ and that’s proving to be exactly the case here.”
Matthew Kiran of Rex Real Estate handled negotiations on behalf of the seller, and Ernie Kennedy of DSF Capital represented the buyer.
HEB recently opened a new store in Fort Worth Alliance and has new stores under construction in Prosper, Mansfield, Rockwall, Melissa, Forney and Frisco. The grocery store previously acquired a site in Celina at the southeast corner of Preston Road and Outer Loop.
New housing developments continue to flock to Celina. New projects announced this year include Rainwater Crossing, a nearly 2,000-home project by Green Brick Partners and Hirsch Family Investments, and a planned 4,000-home community called Ramble at Hillwood.
