dallas – Mayor Eric Johnson said the Texas Legislature should pass a law banning golden parachutes for city employees across the state.
Dallas' mayor is also asking City Council members to agree not to include a golden parachute clause in the next city manager's contract.
This will replace outgoing Dallas City Manager TC Broadnax. He resigned from his position in February.and cited the strained relationship with Johnson. Under the contract, Broadnax may be eligible to receive more than $400,000 from the city.
“This should never have happened, or at least it should never have happened again in Dallas or anywhere in the state,” Johnson said in his weekly email. “The Texas Legislature should take steps to protect taxpayers by banning this golden parachute for city employees anywhere in the state. Until then, the search for a new city manager is ongoing. As this continues, it is time for the Dallas City Council to take action.'' Please be clear that there is no golden parachute clause in the next city manager's contract. ”
