RinkWise Podcast: Dale Reinhardt of Kent
What should players do in the spring?
Reinhardt: “I think it's a really difficult path for this culture to go. Especially in the spring, we want all our kids to play another sport. In the prep school hockey world, most kids come into school. I realize that the season is shorter than I'm used to and we're playing a split season, so it's hard to play a different sport in the fall. I really believe that if you can get them involved, it's great for a lot of reasons. I think it's a good break for them, both physically and mentally. to continue competing, still have elements of their athletic profile, be coached by someone else, meet other kids, and get involved in our community in a different way. I really love you.”
Why do players rush to become juniors before college?
Reinhardt: “I think part of it is that they saw and were told, 'You have to do this in order to take the next step.'” But the same thing is true with social media. I think it goes back to If this is what everyone is doing and it's like peer pressure, like the mentality of that race. I always have the mindset of conquering where I am before moving on to the next step. That's the part we expect to see a little more of. There may be fewer players who come here and make their classification, but if we can see players graduate after their senior year, I've yet to see a player come in harm's way in the process.
we. They go through some type of process, graduate, leave, and probably have to play a year or two in juniors before they get to a Division I school. Alternatively, some of our players can still play and be successful at the Division 3 level right now. So this is kind of another option that works for them. But I think it's important to have a more holistic approach to the whole process.
important. “
