DALLAS — Bill Zielinski, Dallas' chief information officer who oversaw the city's response to recent ransomware attacks and massive data losses involving police records, will resign effective April 30.
Brian Gardner, the city's chief technology and information security officer, will serve as interim director of the department, city officials said.
According to the city's website, CIO salaries in Dallas range from a minimum of $168,658 annually to a maximum of $252,987.
It's unclear what Zielinski's next job will be, but city officials have confirmed he will move to the private sector after 30 years in government.
Dallas officials credited Zielinski with launching a technology accountability report, finalizing a new human resources system and piloting a program that addresses equity and access to digital tools for Dallas residents.
Prior to becoming Chief Information Officer in Dallas in 2020, Mr. Zielinski held a variety of public sector positions, including executive positions at the U.S. Social Security Administration, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, the U.S. General Services Administration, and the Office of the President. .
