From Friday through Sunday, the storm spawned an estimated 14 tornadoes across north and central Texas, according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth.
Preliminary damage assessments indicate that 10 tornadoes touched down on Friday and four tornadoes devastated the area on Sunday.
Early tornadoes spread throughout McLennan, Hill, and Navarro counties, while the latter tornadoes touched down in Limestone, Freestone, and Milam counties.
The strongest tornadoes were EF-2 southeast of West and southwest of Penelope. Winds from the twister reached 115 mph and lasted from 12:48 p.m. to 1:05 p.m. Friday.
Five of Friday's other tornadoes were rated EF-1, and the remaining four were EF-0. All tornadoes recorded on Sunday were rated EF-0 with winds of 75 to 80 mph.
Monday brought a brief respite from storms and rain across North Texas, but precipitation chances returned to the western part of the region Tuesday. The next chance of precipitation in Dallas-Fort Worth is expected Wednesday.
The weather bureau said the rain is likely to continue throughout the rest of the week, with storms most likely late Wednesday into Thursday, and another storm likely late Saturday into Sunday. A few strong storms are possible.
High temperatures in Dallas are expected to hover around 80 degrees for the next few days.
