Former teammates Kyrie Irving and LeBron James have almost reunited. The two won the NBA Championship with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016 with a miraculous 3-1 comeback series victory over the Golden State Warriors.
Since leaving the team, James has won a championship with the Los Angeles Lakers, but Irving is still looking for his second career championship, and is currently pursuing it with the Dallas Mavericks.
Before being traded to Dallas, Irving had sought an offseason move after the final season of his contract with the Brooklyn Nets — he signed in 2019 to team up with Kevin Durant.

Irving told FOX Sports' Melissa Rollin that he is considering reuniting with James and joining the Los Angeles Lakers in 2023 after requesting a trade from the Nets.
“Everything was considered,” Irving told Rollin. “He's a great friend of mine and my brother. We obviously hung out together.” [in Cleveland]. Everyone knows our history. But there were so many different factors in between. When it comes to business decisions, you need to ask your GM or president why certain things didn't work out. ”
While the Irving-James-Anthony Davis trio will likely lead to more wins for the Lakers this season, the Irving-Luka Doncic pairing in Dallas shows potential.
Irving, in his first full season with the Mavericks, is in position to shut out the Los Angeles Clippers in Game 6 as Dallas leads the series 3-2. In a world where Irving ended up with the Lakers, we don't know how things would turn out or if he would have received a contract extension like he did with the Mavericks.
Now, things are going to get interesting as James can opt out of his contract and become an unrestricted free agent this offseason. Perhaps Irving can gather a little talent to bring James into the defense for a shot at a title with Doncic and his former teammates.
