Jason Kidd and the Dallas Mavericks ran some errands before the start of their second round playoff series against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The head coach has agreed to a multi-year contract extension, the team announced Monday.
“We are excited to have Coach Kidd continue to lead our team for the next few years with this valuable contract extension,” said Mavericks Governor Patrick Dumont. stated in a statement. “Kidd led the team to two playoff appearances in three seasons, and we look forward to his leadership as we continue to build and grow this already great franchise.”
Kidd is in his third season with the Mavericks after a Hall of Fame career and coaching stints with the Brooklyn Nets, Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Lakers (as an assistant).
He led the Mavs to a 52-30 record and a trip to the Western Conference Finals in 2021-22, his first season as Dallas' head coach. The team had a roller-coaster 2022-23 season, dropping to 38 wins and 44 losses, missing out on the playoffs.
Kidd and the Mavs returned to the playoffs this season, shutting out the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round with a 114-101 victory in Game 6 in Dallas on Friday.

The Mavericks will then head to Oklahoma City to begin a second-round series against the top-seeded Thunder. Game 1 will tip off Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. Central Time.
