dallas morning news Our staff predicts the outcome of the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoff Series. dallas stars And Colorado Avalanche…
Lia Asimakopoulos, Stars Beat Writer
The Avalanche may be well rested, but the Stars have had more success without extended breaks. We expect the momentum from Game 7 to carry over into the first two games of the series at home. In the series against Las Vegas, the Stars had a difficult time scoring points due to the Golden Knights' goaltending and strong defense, and they were unable to display much offensive power. Colorado doesn't have that strength and has some issues in net, so expect higher scoring.
Still, Dallas probably won't want to have an offensive shootout every night. If the Stars can start the series with at least one game win at home, they'll be set up for success, but either way, it's hard to see this round ending outside of the upcoming Game 7. We all know what happens when Pete starts playing. DeBoer is put in that position. Star player in 7 games.

Can the Stars survive seven more straight games without a break? Well, they might have to. The Avs are star-studded offensively, so it's bound to be a series where Jake Oettinger steps up and outplays Alexander Georgiev. He seems capable and ready for the task. Star player in 7 games.

Jake Oettinger was great against the Golden Knights, and if he's that good against the Avs, it will be one of the biggest changes since Earl Scheib painted my lavender car red in 1973. Colorado averaged five goals per game in the win. This year, three of the four games are against the Stars. I don't know if he's gotten over it yet. Average points in 6 games.
