The Dallas Cowboys are pursuing wide receiver Martavis Bryant.
A person familiar with the matter told Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News that the organization notified the veteran receiver Wednesday that he is moving in a different direction.
The Cowboys informed wide receiver Martavis Bryant today that he is moving in a different direction, according to a person with knowledge of the matter. They gave Bryant a chance to start his NFL career. He can now look elsewhere. There will be no dead money against the 2024 salary cap as a result of the release.

The release of Bryant, who was signed to the Cowboys' practice squad last November and received a future/reserve contract this offseason, will not result in any dead money against the 2024 salary cap.
Bryant, 32, has 145 receptions for 2,183 yards and 17 touchdowns in 44 games with the Pittsburgh Steelers and then-Oakland Raiders. He never appeared in a Cowboys game.
Meanwhile, due to a difference in direction, the Cowboys could potentially sign free agent wideout Zay Jones. Jones was scheduled to visit with the team on Wednesday in search of its next NFL home. The Dallas native and son of former Cowboys linebacker Robert Jones was released by Jacksonville last week in a salary-related move.
